Job Title: Material Handler
Job Summary:
Responsible for the efficient and accurate handling, storage, and distribution of materials within a warehouse or production environment. Perform various tasks related to inventory control, order fulfillment, and maintaining a well-organized workspace.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Handling:
– Receive, unload, and inspect incoming materials.
– Move materials to designated storage areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
– Prepare and package materials for shipment.
Inventory Control:
– Maintain accurate inventory records through regular cycle counting and reconciling discrepancies.
– Ensure proper labeling and identification of materials.
Order Fulfillment:
– Pick and pack materials based on customer orders or production requirements.
– Prepare and stage materials for outbound shipments.
Quality Control:
– Inspect materials for damage or defects.
– Report any quality issues to supervisors.
Organization:
– Keep the warehouse or storage area clean and organized.
– Arrange and rearrange materials to optimize storage space.
Communication:
– Collaborate with other departments to fulfill material requirements.
– Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding inventory status and issues.
Equipment Operation:
– Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
– Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report any malfunctions.
Safety:
– Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols.
– Use personal protective equipment as required.
Qualifications:
– High school diploma or equivalent.
– Previous experience as a material handler or in a similar role.
– Ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift certification may be required).
– Knowledge of inventory control procedures.
– Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
– Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects.
Working Conditions:
– Work in a warehouse or production environment.
– Exposure to various weather conditions (if working in an outdoor setting).
– May require standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.
